The Village of Round Lake Beach is currently under contract with Waste Management of Illinois for the disposal of refuse, recycling and yard-waste products. Below are the current services offered by Waste Management:
Refuse Service for Round Lake Beach Waste Management
Individually-3 month bill cycle: Jan-Feb-Mar / April-May-June / July-Aug-Sept / Oct-Nov-Dec
Rates
Recycle Service: Recycle service is included at no charge:
- 64-gal Recycle Toter.
- 35-gal Recycle Toter.
- A 2nd recycle toter can be added to your account for $1 per month. The $1 per month is for the additional recycling service.
Refuse Service:
- 65 Gallon Cart Service: $36.48 for 3 months = $12.16 per month (with 1 bulk item per week).
- 90 Gallon Cart Service: $39.96 for 3 months = $13.32 per month (with 1 bulk item per week).
- 2 Cart Service: Limited 2-90 Gal Cart service
$76.89 for 3 months = $25.63 per month (with 1 bulk item per week).
A Senior Citizen Discount is available for those residents who are 62 years or older.
If you wish to apply for the senior citizen discount, please mail Waste Management a copy of your driver’s license, birth certificate or passport.
- Senior 95-gal Cart Service: Senior Citizen 90 Gal Cart service
$36.21 for 3 months = $12.07 per month (with 1 bulk item per week).
- Senior 65-gal Cart Service: Senior Citizen 65 Gal Cart Service
$33.12 for 3 months = $11.04 per month (with 1 bulk item per week).
Yard Waste-Seasonal: This service includes the disposal of yard waste in six 32-gallon cans or bags. Any additional bags or cans must bare a yard waste sticker that can be purchased at Village Hall, Ace Hardware, Jewel and Cub Foods at a cost of $1.84 per sticker. The program costs $61.50 for the season and begins April 15, 2005 and will run through the end of November. See Grass/Leaves/Brush below for more details
Yard Waste Stickers: For those who choose not to participate in the Seasonal Program, yard waste stickers are $1.84 each and can be purchased at the above locations.
Grass/Leaves/Brush: Available from April 15, 2006 through November 30, 2006. Grass and leaves must be disposed of in brown kraft paper yard waste bags or marked yard waste cans and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Brush must be bundled and tied and no longer than 4 feet in length and no larger than 2 feet in diameter. Branches should not exceed 3 inches in diameter. The customer is allowed to put out 6 bags, marked cans or bundles per week included in the seasonal yard waste service. Anything over that must have a yard waste sticker attached to each marked can, bag or bundle. If the customer does not want the yard waste program they can Just purchase yard waste stickers and attach 1 sticker per marked Can bag or bundle. All must weigh less than 50 lbs.
Recyclable Materials: Recycling includes newspapers, cardboard, chipboard, junk mail, Magazines and phone books, plastic containers numbered 1-5 Aluminum and steel cans, glass bottles & jars. Any glass out for collection must be wrapped securely and labeled. Any cans weighing more than 50 pounds will be left behind.
Cardboard Boxes: Flatten and bundle into stacks and tie with twine to secure. Cardboard should be no longer or wider than 2 feet and flattened to be taken as recycling or can be cut down to small enough pieces to fit loosely inside cart and or placed next to recycling cart in stacks. If these requirements are met, Waste Management will pick-up at no cost.
Oversized Items: One large regular household item such as a bicycle, table, chair, mattress, portable TV’s 1- 4’x2’ roll of carpet, etc. will be collected on the normal trash day free of charge. Anything additional must be an extra pick up.
Carpeting: Waste Management will accept 1 roll of carpet properly prepared as one free bulk Item on day of service. Any more than that will be considered Extra pick up. Carpeting must be rolled, and taped or tied. The Carpet, after being rolled and tied, should be no longer than 4-feet and no wider than 2 feet in diameter; and weigh no more than 50 lbs. Five rolls of carpet is considered 1 cubic yard. A special pick-up needs to be arranged 24 hours prior to their Regular service day for a minimum of $60.00 which includes up to 5 yards.
Building & Lumber: All debris must be properly prepared and contained/bundled. Construction debris from remodeling projects such as paneling, drywall, toilets, sinks, counter tops etc. must be cut down, Bundled and/or contained. A special pick-up needs to be arranged 24- hours prior to their regular service day for minimum of $60.00 which includes up to 5 yards?
Extra Pick-ups: There is a $60.00 minimum charge for pick-ups that are less than or equal to 5-yards. A fee of $15.00 will be added to your bill for each additional yard. For off-day service, a $30.00 travel fee will be added to the quoted price.
Christmas trees no longer than 4ft. will be collected on January 4th & 11th free of charge. Trees must be stripped of all decorations and NOT be placed in plastic bags.
All items are to be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the collection day. Refuse limited to the cart(s) per week plus 1 bulk item.
Non-Collectable Materials
Heavy Materials: Large automotive parts will not be collected as household trash. Concrete, gravel, dirt and similar items can be referred to Waste Management Sales Department to arrange for a roll off container.
Automotive Tires: Due to EPA regulations, tires cannot be disposed of in Illinois landfills. Check with our local tire Store. Many times they will take it for cost of Illinois tire tax.
Household Appliances: Due to EPA regulations, appliances cannot be disposed of in Illinois landfills. Call Environmental Field Services 800-480-4337 to arrange for a pick up.
Toxic Materials: Toxic products such as automobile batteries, paint, Insecticides, oil and antifreeze will not be collected. See SWALCO’s web site at www.swalco.org to find ways of disposing of these items.
Note: Any special items requiring pick-up should be called into Waste Management 2 days prior to the scheduled refuse collection day. Pick-ups will be scheduled on the regular service day. Off day service will be an additional $30.00 travel fee that will be added to the quoted price. Waste Management accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express or a check by phone.
HOLIDAYS: Six holidays are observed per year: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving, and Christmas, causing a one day delay in pick up if your day falls on or after the holiday.
VACATION: Vacation credit will be given when service is stopped for one month or more and Waste Management is notified in advance. This credit will be applied to your next invoice.
SAFETY: Please have dogs restrained when drivers pick up your refuse and recycling.
