Storm Water Management Referral

The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) applies to the Northeastern Illinois Floodplain Property Acquisition Funding Program to acquire properties located in floodplains. They work with the village to purchase properties in the 100-year floodplain that experience flood damage. Property purchases are on a voluntary basis only. The Village of Round Lake Beach is in good standing with the National Flood Insurance Program and have been invited to submit addresses of such properties located in this community. Grant funds may be used to reimburse acquisition costs, appraisal fees, title fees, title insurance costs, legal fees associated with the closing of properties, and demolition expenses.

The village accepts ownership of the property acquired and agrees to maintain the property as open space in perpetuity.

The village’s objective is to help the property owners achieve long-term damage reductions by voluntary acquisition and demolition.

The village needs the experience of the Stormwater Management Commissions to help us to manage our floodplain issues.
