Round Lake Area S.A.L.T.

Round Lake Area S.A.L.T. What is S.A.L.T.
S.A.L.T. stands for
Seniors and Law Enforcement Together.

There are many S.A.L.T. groups in the United States. It's usually part of a triad - seniors, police chiefs and the sheriff.

The Round Lake Area S.A.L.T. Council was established in 1997. The local Police Departments and the Fire Department are represented at the monthly meetings as well as clergy, the Round Lake Area Park District and of course Seniors from the area.

Meetings are every second Friday of each month at 10:00 am at the Round Lake Beach Police Department across from the Round Lake Area Post Office.

You are always welcome to attend these meetings

Refreshments are served compliments of the Round Lake Beach Police Department Great Praiseworthy Speakers

Office Sandy Molidor conducts the "55 Alive" classes through the Round Lake Area Park District.

The Round Lake area S.A.L.T. group can be contacted through its chairman, Tom Finnegan, at the Round Lake Beach village hall, by phone at 847.546.2351, or FAX at 847.740.2852.

The S.A.L.T. Council consists of the triad’s brainstorming group, planners, and community leaders.

    Many S.A.L.T. Councils consist of:
  • AARP (or senior) leaders
  • Law enforcement officers (retired as well as on duty)
    • Representatives of:
    • Better Business Bureau
    • Ministerial Association
    • Hospital
    • Home Health Care providers
    • Agency on Aging
    • District Attorney or Prosecuting Attorney
    • Crime prevention organizations (Neighborhood Watch, etc.)

Regardless of the structure and the organizations represented on a S.A.L.T. Council, the often-voiced opinion is that an active S.A.L.T. group offers an unprecedented opportunity for:

  • Partnerships
  • Seniors participating in plans to benefit all seniors
  • Exchange of information
  • Preventing duplication of efforts
  • A concerted effort to address the needs and concerns of mature adults.
