Village of Round Lake Beach - Meet the Board
Name: Rich Hill - Mayor
I'm your Mayor, Rich Hill, and I've been a resident of Round Lake Beach since 1977, Mayor since April of 2001 and a Village Trustee from 1995 to 2001. I am married to my wife, Kathy, and we have 8 children, Christy, Rich, Amanda, Koreena, Jennifer, Steven, Preston and Madison.
I've worked with the public since I was 15 and enjoy helping solve people's problems. Giving back to my community has always been important to me whether it's through the Boy Scouts, Round Lake Area Lake Management Organization, President and Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Commissioner of the Round Lake Area Park District, Round Lake Beach Trustee or my current position as Mayor. I also serve as Chairman of the Board for the Joint Action Water Agency (they provide our Lake Michigan drinking water) and as Chairman of Cencom (police & fire dispatch center for the Round Lake Area and Barrington).
I have seen a lot accomplished since I was first elected to the Board in 1995. A budget with over $1,000,000 in errors has been brought into balance with a healthy fund balance. Many new businesses have opened in Round Lake Beach bringing needed revenue for additional police and public works staff as well as funds for replacing roads, water mains and adding curb and gutter. We have 2 new 1.5 million gallon water towers and a large water main loop to keep water flowing throughout the village.
We have a new police station, village hall and Cultural & Civic Center for our residents. The lakefront park has been redesigned and is being expanded to include another 10 acres across the channel for passive recreation. We are in the middle of the first ever dredging of the channels of Round Lake to keep our lake healthy.
We developed our comprehensive plan for the future of our village in 1997 and in August of 2004 it was reviewed and new goals set for the future. Most of these goals have been accomplished so we are once again reviewing the comprehensive plan and updating it. If you like what we've done just wait till you see what we do!
Please feel free to contact me for questions, suggestions or just to say hi. I'm always glad to hear from another resident
of Round Lake Beach. My home phone is 847-546-7707. If I'm not available please leave a message on my answering machine
and I'll call you back.

Name: Tom Smith - Village Trustee
Community service is important in my life. I proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years active duty, and 2 years inactive duty. I served as Trustee for the Village of Round Lake Beach from 1997 to 2007 before retiring from public service. When Trustee Miosi retired in 2008, I was asked to return to public service and serve out her remaining term. I was pleased to return and work for our community again. I currently serve as Chair Person of the Economic Development Committee and a member of the Public Works Committee.
I have been married to my wife, Marsha for 40 years and have 2 sons, Tom Jr, and Brent. We have been residents of Round Lake Beach since 1986. Our family has seen the village grow into a community with pride that has a strong economic strength and is well respected by surrounding communities.
The future of our village is full of challenges and issues that are so important to our growth. The decisions that the Village Board makes today will be felt far into the 21st Century. I have learned much as a Trustee of the village and I feel I have contributed much to our village. Our current board is not afraid to ask questions and make the difficult decisions that we face. I look forward to working with this board to insure a great community for all of our residents and businesses.
