First annual Beach Fest draws a crowd
The first annual Bech Fest cooked up a storm,
literally! Despite impending thunderstorms on Friday
evening, residents enjoyed Country Music Night.
Saturday dawned a much nicer day, weatherwise, and
visitors enjoyed music, food and fun for the kids.

News from the Mayor
Planning session held
Planning is the key to a workable future. The Trustees, Clerk, Administrator, Department
Heads and I gave up our sunny Saturday morning in early August to engage
in a long-range planning session. We last held a long range planning in 1997. Remarkably, we have implemented or
completed about 90% of our goals from that session. We discussed our commercial tax base and how to expand it,
our aging infrastructure and how we are replacing it neighborhood by neighborhood, our dedicated staff and how efficiently they run our
village, ways to engage and involve our residents in village functions and operations and much, much more. We will work together to implement this plan just as we did on the last one.
Commercial development update
Cardinal Fitness
Now open, Cardinal Fitness Center, located on Route 83 north of Rollins Rd., features the latest state-of-the-art exercise equipment.
From the Police Department
Drive carefully, school's back in session
School is back in session and there will be more children walking through the neighborhoods. Be alert from them at street corners, at bus stops and in the area surrounding local schools.
Drivers must stop in both directions on a two-lane road when the red lights on a school bus are flashing and the stop-sign arm has been extended. On multi-lane roads, drivers going in the same direction as the bus must stop when the lights are flashing and the sign is extended.
Please remember school buses stop at all railroad crossings and do not make right turns on red.
For your information
No leaf burning
There is no leaf burning in the Village of Round Lake Beach. Residents may dispose of leaves and
other yard waste in brown paper bags or cans and leave them curbside on the regular collection day. Stickers are required and they may be purchased at
the Village Hall, Ace and Jewel for $1.75 each bag. Please do not fill the bags or cans with more than 50
pounds of yard waste. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be accepted. Collection continues until the last week in November.
Save water
A leaky toilet can cost homeowners lots of money in wasted water. It's a good idea to check your toilet once a year.
Remove the toilet tank cover and add 10 drops of food coloring into the
tank. After 15 minutes check for color in the toilet bowl. If you see any color, your tank has a leak.
While you're checking for leaks, inspect your faucets and pipes too. Leaky faucets, even just a drip, can add up to 15 gallons of water a day. Some leaky faucets can be repaired by simply replacing the washer.
Parking restrictions
Please remember not to park in the ditch line at any time. Parking in the ditch line damages the drainage area and can create flooding problems during heavy storms.
Saving energy
Even though the cooler months are heading this way, it's a good time to perform an annual checkup on your air
conditioner. You'll save money and your air conditioner will run more efficiently if it has the
correct level of coolant and the coils are clean. In addition check and replace your furnace filter monthly.
New staff
Welcome to new members of the Economic Development staff Phillip Senn, lead inspector, and Cynthia Perrino, property
maintenance inspector. Congratulations to Margaret Sparr who was promoted to building inspector.
