Renovated lakefront park dedicated
The renovated lakefront beach was dedicated on
Saturday, June 26, at a ceremony presided over by
Mayor Rich Hill.
Residents have been enjoying the new amenities
which include a playground, new restrooms, a picnic
pavilion, a walking path along the shore, an
improved boat launch, and beautiful landscaping.
The renovations were made possible by a grant from
the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Open
Space Land Acquisition and Development program.

Chief Larsson to lead police department
The Village of Round Lake Beach has hired a new police chief. Doug Larsson
spent 30 years on the Rolling Meadows police force. He began his career as a police officer in 1973
and was promoted to sergeant, commander and deputy chief. He spent 12 years as the deputy chief in Rolling Meadows.

With a strong background in community policing, Chief Larsson plans to use that expertise in the Beach. In Rolling
Meadows, he was also involved in children's education programs such as Officer Friendly and DARE.
"In Rolling Meadows, I was part of an innovative outreach program that
brought community policing to underserved areas. We were partners with the community and solved problems together," said Chief Larsson. "
As chief, Larsson's responsibilities include leading the department and coordinating its resources.
"The Mayor and Trustees have developed a plan to create a healthy environment for their residents,"
he said. "To lead a police organization that is as well trained and motivated as this one is a reward for me."
One of the first items on Chief Larsson's agenda is to speak with every police department employee individually. "I want to hear their thoughts and where they want to go inside our agency," he added.
When Chief Larsson is not on duty, he enjoys motorcycling across the country and playing golf. He has two adult children.
News from the Mayor
A summer of improvements
As we head into the fall, let’s reflect what the summer has brought Round Lake Beach. The renovation of the Lakefront Park was completed. We held a Dedication Ceremony on July 26 th . The new picnic
shelters are used every weekend for family get-togethers,
birthday parties, etc. The improved beach, new washroom facility and playground are used every day, especially when it gets in the 90’s.
The Clarendon Road reconstruction was completed and sidewalks installed. Kildeer was reconstructed with curb
and gutter, and new water mains and storm sewers were installed. Beachview, Glenwood and
Kenilworth east of Cedar Lake Rd. will have curb, gutter and storm sewers installed by the end of the year.
I love to watch our village keep getting better and better! Thanks to all the residents for their understanding during construction.
Lakefront park hosts many events
From the Police Department
School's in session The summer's over and school is back in session for
most Round Lake Beach children. Please be careful driving through the neighborhoods and especially near schools and around buses.
Drivers must stop when the red lights on a school bus are flashing and the stop sign is extended on two-lane roads and when going the same way as the bus on
multi-lane roads. Also school buses do not turn right on red and they make stops at all railroad crossings, so please be patient when driving behind buses.
Trick or Treaters
Before long the little gremlins and goblins will be "haunting" the street for Trick or Treat. Drive carefully on Village streets. Trick or Treat in the Beach is Sunday, October 26, 1:00-5:00 pm.
For your information
Leaves & yard waste
Please remember leaf burning is not allowed in the Village of Round Lake Beach. Leaves and yard
waste may be placed in brown bags or containers and set curbside for pickup. Yard waste bags and containers must have
a sticker on them. Stickers are available at the Village Hall, Ace
Hardware Stores and Jewel for $1.75 each. If you subscribe to yard waste pickup for the
season, no stickers are required. Please do not fill bags or cans with more than 50 lbs. of yard waste. Yard waste in
plastic bags will not be picked up. Collection of yard waste continues until the last week in November.
Rehab continues
Renovation continues on the home at 1312 Beverly as part of the Village's Housing Acquisition & Rehabilitation Program (HARP). Once renovations
are completed, the house will be sold. Purchase of a fourth house is planned for the future. For more
information on HARP, please call Tony Fradin, Economic Development Director, at (847) 546-2351, ext. 354
Meadowgreen update
Improvements to the Meadowgreen subdivision are continuing. The Village installed a white picket fence along Cedar lake Road and new street lights to improve the overall look of the subdivision. These and
other improvements are part of a redevelopment TIF coordinated by the Village. The homeowners
association has contributed to many of the repairs. This ongoing program will continue for several more years.

New business
Jalapeno Produce joined the Round Lake Beach business family recently.
Located in the same mall as Big Lots, Jalapeno Produce carries fresh vegetables and fruit, canned foods and a great butcher counter.
Lawns & ditch lines
The Village requires residents to keep their lawns and the ditch lines trimmed. Grass or weeds in excess of eight inches high must be removed. If, after repeated efforts to
have the owner mow an unsightly lawn, the Village may mow the lawn and charge the time back to the homeowner.
Paint supplies discount
There's still time to capitalize on the 10 percent discount on painting supplies through the Systematic Inspection Program. A voucher may be obtained at the Village Hall. The program ends for this
year on October 1. Discounts are good at Ace Hardware, Sears Hardware and K-Mart.
